Post-Examination

Scene 1 – Dalam bas – Chemistry Exam.

“Ko boleh lagi mengantuk dalam bas, tgh org lain chuak nak exam ni?”

Shanjif menyapa aku yang menguap luas, mengalahkan hipopotamus dalam lopak.

“Ko kene faham, Shanjif, bila aku nervous, aku kekurangan oksigen. Sbb tu aku menguap!”

Scene 2 – Biology Exam!

“Teacher, i’ve never got any good marks in class.. can you give me piat (5) this time?”

Elena Mikhailovna usha slack kat aku. Pastu dia nak tergelak kejap. Dia usha slack kat aku lagi.

Ok..tell me please, what do you know about ‘Processing’?”

Aku pulak blur. ‘Processing’ hapekejadahnye ni….

Processing, as in protein synthesizes?”

Dia menghanggukkan kepalanya. Aku tahu protein synthesis! Dari awal2, replication, Okazaki Fragments, translation of RNA, transcription, Helicase, Ligase, sumer aku tau! Tapi mana penah aku dengar pun ‘Processing’? ‘Splicing’ ada ar, proses di mana hnRNA undergo splicing for removal of introns, retaining only exons in order to convert succesfully into mRNA.

Er..processing is included in protein synthesize process, in which started by transcription which contains 3 phases – initiation, elongation and termination..”

“I know about protein synthesize. Now tell me about ‘Processing'”

Aku dah blur. Lalu ku menundukkan kepalaku tersipu2..

I think i’m okay with 4 teacher..”

Scene 3 – Exam Latin.

Tatiana Mitrofanova membelek2 kertas jawapan aku. Tersengguk2 dia check setiap patah perkataan yg aku tulis. Sengaja nak cari kesilapan agaknya, dia mmg camtu – bukan boleh tgk ada kertas yg betul semua, mesti ada ja yg dia nak salahkan.

“Good, perfect! You got all correct in grammatical section! Excellent! Now tell me, what’s the difference between 3rd declension nouns with ending -o between masculinum and femininum gender?”

“Owh. The 3rd declension nouns with ending -o are exactly two syllable in masculinum gender, and are multisyllable in femininum gender.”

“Good. Now tell me, in what type the adjectives of 3rd declension are defined?”

“Hmm…in vowel type, teacher”

“Good! Excellent! Perfect!”

Aku terkejut. Alhamdulillah! Hidung aku dah start kembang, tambah dengan word ‘Perfect’ yang dia bagi tu, inshaAllah takdak halangan ar aku nak dapat piat. Tapi lepas ni ar masalahnya, part clinical terminology lak. Huhu.

Good! You got almost all correct in clinical part. Only one or two mistakes, it’s forgivable.”

“Thank you, teacher!”

“Now tell me, what does ‘propaedeutica’ means?”

“Err…introduction to medical discipline?”

“No, it’s introduction to clinical medical discipline. Now tell me, what do the word ‘pathologia’ means?

“Er…study about diseases.”

“You’re right, and the other meaning?”

“The other meaning??”

“Yes, the word ‘pathologia’ has two meanings. Don’t tell me that you don’t know them both!”

“Er..i knew teacher, but i forgot”

“That’s it. You only got 4.”

Damn it! Can you guys imagine in?? Perfect in Grammatical section! Perfect in Clinical writing section! Only several mistakes in Clinical oral question, and i’m down one grade!!

Well, that’s Russian Examination style. Sepanjang exam ni, syukur alhamdulillah, aku takdela teruk sangat pun. Got 4 for my Biology, Physic and Latin, and 5 for my Chemistry. As for Malaysian Examination System, 5 (otlichna) is equivalent to A (Excellent), 4 (kharasho) to B (Good), 3 to B (satisfactory) and below that is fail – means you have to retake the exam either this semester or next semester.

Syukur alhamdulillah semuanya dah berakhir! Tak sabar nak balik Malaysia~!!!
